How to Fix Plaid Connection Errors on Mobile Investment Apps

If you are trying to link your bank account to your favorite investment or budgeting app and keep getting a "Connection Failed" or "Timeout" screen, you are experiencing a common API sync error. This usually happens when security tokens expire between your bank and the app.

Follow these three quick steps to force the app to reconnect immediately:
Step 1: Clear Your Mobile Browser Cache
Even if you are using a dedicated financial app, the login screen runs through an invisible browser window (like Chrome or Safari) on your phone. Go to your phone's browser settings and clear your browsing data and cookies from the past 24 hours.
Step 2: Use an Incognito or Private Window
If you are trying to link your accounts on a desktop computer or laptop, log into your investment portal using a Private or Incognito tab. This prevents old, broken session cookies from interrupting the new secure connection.
Step 3: Turn Off Active VPNs
High-security banking networks will automatically block connection requests coming from known VPN server IP addresses. Temporarily disconnect your VPN before hitting the "Link Bank" button. Once the connection is verified, you can safely turn your VPN back on.
